For the past year or so, my make up base has varied due to my love hate relationship with medium to full coverage foundations. As a result, for the past 6/7 months I have been devoted to the Nars tinted moisturiser due to its glowy finish and it’s just skin appearance. However as Autumn and winter have slowly crept in, I have had to give in to something with a bit more ooomph that will cover up any blotchiness on my face. Being the diva that I am, only the best would do, and I found myself browsing through the Charlotte Tilbury collection. I ended up going for the Light Wonder Foundation as opposed to the new Magic Foundation as that looked a bit more full on than what I was going for. Some might argue that the light wonder is a little bit too glowy for this time of year but who cares really? My skin is already dull from pregnancy so a mattifying foundation would just make me look zombie-like. As a foundation I really can’t fault this. It blends out beautifully, sinks into the skin easily and gives my skin the vitality that it’s missing. Bravo Charlotte on this lovely creation.
In all honesty, nail art has never really been my thing. Firstly, it’s too fiddly for my liking and secondly, my nails can chip within a day so it just seems pointless. However a bit of glitter has always been a hit with me and what better time to whack out the glitter than halloween! I decided to go green and went for my nars nail polish in shutter and top it off with ciatés party shoes (previously featured in the blog). The green and blue flecks of glitter have really brought the polish to life and also given it that halloweeny vibe. What’s on your nails this halloween?
Oh goodness, the time has come where I had to avoid hiding my face from the camera and show what I am actually doing with the thousands of beauty products that I hoard. I would like to state that I do not normally look as spaced out as I do in these photos, although I may act it sometimes and also I apologise for the lighting, I go back to work tomorrow so tonight was the only time I had to write this post and take photos! But here is a little insight into what I wear to work, or just out and about on a daily basis.
1) Bourjois Happy light Luminous Primer
I work a good 11 hour shift, 5 days a week so I need something to hold my make up on throughout the day and give me a little glow. This stuff is Incredible!
2) Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 52 (Yay I’ve gone a shade darker!)
Pretty standard this foundation. Gives me enough coverage not to look a wreck but lets my skin and freckles come through.
3) Estée Lauder Double wear Concealer
Normally I wear just my Lierac Dopticerne teinte, but I couldn’t find it while preparing for taking the pictures so I used my Estée Lauder concealer instead.
4) Nars Luster Blusher
I use this as a blusher, bronzer and highlighter and it works perfectly. The shimmer doesn’t show up too much so I can use it wear I fancy so cheeks, temples, chin etc..
5) MAC wedge
I just use this in the crease of my eye and underneath my bottom lashes to give definition.
6) MAC Teddy liner
I line my top and bottom lashes, to the half way point and smudge just to give a bit of smokiness.
7) Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara Volume
I LOVE this mascara. This is a tester size that I use but I plan to get the full size when it runs out.
8) MAC CB96 Frost
Don’t even ask about the name because I don’t understand why its called ‘CB96’ but this is my favourite lipstick ever. Its a shimmery orange and a tiny amount suits my colouring perfectly, I think!
Have you ever put your make up on, walked around for half an hour, then looked in the mirror and been horrified by how terrible it looks? This happened way too often for me in January. Probably because of the cold weather, illness, fatigue etc.. my make up just didn’t apply well and I was left looking overdone and too made up for my liking. For February I have cut my make up in half and once again appreciate the saying “less is more”. Now my routine consists of my Forever Youth Liberator Foundation, Estée Lauder Concealer, any old Eye primer, MAC Teddy Eye Kohl, and Nars Douceur Blusher. I’m only wearing lip balm as well. I feel way more natural now, and like my normal self. My nails are completely plain and my hair has just been left to do its own thing. It’s really worth giving it a go, and cuts your getting ready time in half!
1) The Nars blusher may look a bit battered, basically Isla chewed my blusher brush, put it aside and I used it for my blusher while it was wet (without knowing obviously). Therefore my blusher has sealed itself and it’s too new for me to go scratching the top off.
2) Taking these pictures proved to be a nightmare as displayed by the pictures below with all the snatching that went on.
I am really excited to be flying back to England this weekend to see my family and have a relaxed few days at home but I have a slight problem. I am only taking hand luggage with me on the way there, as I am travelling alone with the baby this time and would prefer not to have bags upon bags to carry. This means I have to really shrink down my make up collection. So what’s coming with me?
I’ve gone for my YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation. This is my new favourite foundation and it wouldn’t feel right not taking it away with me. My concealer is my Estée Lauder Double Wear stay-in-place high cover concealer which is also one of the most recent ground breaking discoveries. For blusher I am taking home Illamasqua Beg which is a deep red/purple colour and needs to be used sparingly. For eyeshadow I am taking home two MAC eyeshadows, All that glitters for the lid and Wedge for the crease. Mac Teddy Kohl eyeliner is also coming with me and I am really getting into wearing brown instead of black eyeliner again. Laura Mercier long lash Mascara has also earned a place in the capsule make up bag along with my trusty Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers, they make quite a pair together. Obviously after that I am taking my Body Shop Honey Bronzer as there is no alternative for that, and two of the Nars Lip pencils: Biscayne Park and Dolce Vita.
I am very confident that my choices will more than see me through the next four days and if not, then there’s always a Selfridges in Birmingham!
